krinkov ?
Thinking about getting one of those. Any one got one? Which one to get and where. Was looking at Atlantic ones but they are expensive.
Here is picture of one I'd like to get http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...03/krinkov.jpg |
Re: krinkov ?
Yikes...$949 for an AK pistol?
I have seen them this past summer in Tucson in the $595-$649 range. Maybe the price has gone up more than I thought...hmmmm. Here is a link to some reviews...http://www.ak47review.com/AK47_Reviews_Pistol.php |
Re: krinkov ?
A buddy of mine carried one in Afghanistan. Said he didn't like the ergonomics of it. Of course, IT WAS FULL AUTO, which yours would not be.
He eventually transitioned to an AMD65, which he said was much better. Which is EXACTLY why I bought my AMD65's from Atlantic. http://www.goldismoney.info/forums/a...1&d=1197302850 |

I considered an AK pistol, but decided against it.
I also think ergonomics would be tough...with that heavy reciprocating bolt...hard to control. IMO a better option would be one of the FOLDERS: |
Re: krinkov ?
That's about right. A Krink will typically run a grand or more. They're nice though.

Re: krinkov ?
The only reason I want krinkov is for wtshtf situation. Nice "little" gun to have and easy to conceal + a crap load of fire power. I can put it next to me in my truck or under my coat, it would be easy to maneuver with it in a truck and house. During shtf it will be converted to full awto.

Re: krinkov ?
. I don’t know much about mp5's and don't have any 9mm. I do have good amount of 7.62 and I'm very familiar with ak. Plus 7.62 would be allot better to just point and shoot at target or where target is hiding( for me any way, don't want to open up a can of worms here ). Krink and mp about same size to.

Re: krinkov ?
Even though you say 'WSHTF'...
I would NEVER admit IN WRITING you are willing to break ATF rules. Especially when it comes to NFA rules. That admission can end up getting you inspected very closely (some say harrassed) by your local ATF agent. Just sayin... |

Re: krinkov ?
Not only that, but unless you got like a ton of ammo, full auto will only leave you with an empty weapon as a club.
Semi auto is WHY I LIKE these weapons. I can put almost as much lead down range as full auto but can do so without burning through my ammo cache in five minutes. And I recently doubled my ammo. Still saying ... |

Re: krinkov ?
I remember talking to a class 3 dealer a few years back about the Krinkov and he told me they were nifty little rifles but in full auto they would burn your eyebrows off.

Re: krinkov ?
There's that, too. Full auto is useful if you want to chew through something your weapon couldn't normally penetrate, mowing down large numbers of soft targets on open terrain or getting the max theoretical stopping power vs one target out of your weapon. The first point is valid but x39 has much better performance Vs barriers than 5.56 so you probably won't need it anyway. The second point has had no real practical application since WWI. The third point is very theoretical, in real life a CNS disconnect is cleaner and faster otherwise just work your shot placement and double tap a critical system. Even in terms of suppression fire it isn't all it seems it would be, I've gotten equal results with well placed single shots or short bursts at random intervals. It's cheaper and won't overheat your weapon as quickly. There are occasions when a happy switch is useful but it's not as advantageous as many people think. It won't even really help you score more hits under most circumstances because auto fire is generally more diffiult to direct than single fire and anything more than a very short, crisp burst will usually just waste a lot of ammo shooting air. That's one of the reasons why the M-16 was switched from full auto to three round burst with the A2 revision.
The main reason I want full auto is because somebody is trying to tell me I can't have it. |
Re: krinkov ?
Krinkovs have a reputation of being problematic because of the modified gas tube system. whether that reputation is deserved or not, I do not know.
Im going to go with Wallew and say get an AMD-65, thats what I got. if you have a moment, check out the side folders silver city posted... the black one at the bottom with a pistol grip front stock is actually an AMD-65. look carefully and you will see that they dont come with upper wood guards because they are already modified shorter from the factory, and a stock upper wood guard will not fit. thats your first clue that it is an AMD-65. the second clue is the peculiar muzzle brake (the thing hanging off the end of the barrel) those are supposed to be welded onto the end of the barrel because without it, the barrel is under 16 inches and therefore illegal. what a decent gunsmith can do is remove the stock, weld it up so that you cant ever put a stock on, take off the goofy front pistol grip, take off the muzzle brake and you have a legal ak pistol. I got mine for around 500 bucks. this is what it looks like before and after http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...tic/amd-65.jpg at first I didnt like the look of it, but I now like its different look. they sell wood furniture for AMD-65s that you can easily put on and make it look like a krinkov. If you want to get extra freaky with the gunsmith, he could cut off more of the barrel and move the front sights back. heres an AMD for sale for 500 bucks. http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=86325494 |

Re: krinkov ?
I'm looking to pick-up "someday" one of those new covert russian AK's with the two tiny gas pistons in the action. Suppos to make full auto as easy to hit with as a water hose.

Re: krinkov ?
Tha AN-94 has some interesting ideas built in but boy is it ever hideous!!! I think the bayonet setup is stupid and it does introduce a lot of complex interactions and small parts that are the antithesis of what made the AK series so great. If I was in the Russian army and they issued me that thing I'd lean toward going AWOL! :tongue_ma:
I think, I hope!, that Hoot means this one instead... http://world.guns.ru/assault/as07-e.htm |
